Progress Environmental is proud to support the redevelopment of essential public infrastructure through our work at the Benning Road Transfer Station, a key component of Washington, D.C.’s waste management system. Operating since the 1960s, the facility has served the District for decades and is now planned for a major reconstruction to meet the evolving needs of residents and businesses.
Located on approximately 6.9 acres at 3200 Benning Road NE, the transfer station and its access road are situated on land leased from the National Park Service. As part of the District’s long-term modernization efforts, the existing facility is scheduled for demolition and replacement with a new state-of-the-art transfer station designed to expand operational capacity and enhance public services.
Progress Environmental provided environmental and abatement services to support the project’s redevelopment goals, helping prepare the site for future construction activities. The new facility will feature modern waste-handling systems, improved public drop-off areas, and upgraded infrastructure that will enhance efficiency, safety, and environmental performance for years to come.
