The renovation and addition to Towson University’s former science building, Smith Hall, took place from February 28, 2024, to May 31, 2024. The project involved renovating the building’s west wing and reconstructing the east wing to create a modern, 200,000 gross square foot learning facility. Under the supervision of Wilmer Gonzalez, a team of ten laborers removed asbestos from windows, doors, and vent caulking in preparation for the planned razing of the building. The 150,000 square foot, five-floor structure will soon house Towson University’s mass communication, communication studies, and electronic media and film departments.
